Nothing to see here!
Making a mystery visit to Curaçao in late February was Global 6500 N2100L.
The long-range business jet is registered to Lasai Aviation II LLC, a defence contractor involved with several US Army ISR aircraft projects.
A contractor-owned, contractor operated aircraft, N2100L is believed to have been used as the training aircraft for the US Army’s Airborne Reconnaissance & Electronic warfare System (ARES) program, a precursor test campaign for the High Accuracy Detection & exploitation System (HADES) program. The contract to build the HADES jets, intended to replace the RC-12 Guardrail was awarded to Bombardier (airframes) and SNC (systems integration) last year.
Using the callsign AXEL 21, It arrived in Curaçao on February 24th, after a flight from Fort Bliss, Texas (BIF/KBIF) and a one-hour stop in Ponce, Puerto Rico (PSE/TJPS). During its time on the island, the jet operated from the ramp at the Cooperative Security Location (CSL) and was supported by the US Air Force’s 429th Expeditionary Operations Squadron.
While in Curaçao, N2100L flew on two occasions:
February 25th: Curacao (CUR/TNCC) to Orlando, Florida (MCO/KMCO), Hilton Head Island Airport, South Carolina (HHH/KHXD) and back to TNCC; and
February 26th: Curacao to Miami Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF/KOPF) and back to TNCC.
N2100L departed Curacao on February 27th, flying to Fort Bliss, via Ponce.
