Rare Luftwaffe visitor in Curaçao!

Aviation photography in Curacao hasn’t been very exciting lately. I’ve only managed to catch a few aircraft I missed while in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Luckily, the tides have turned and a huge surprise came to paradise island: a Luftwaffe A400M on its way home from deployment in the Pacific area!

The German airlifter snuck in unannounced on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, the local spotter community was able to team up to uncover some departure information. I arrived at the airport well in advance and ready to catch some shots at twilight. Cloudy sunrise conditions presented challenges but I made every shot count.

I was unable to visit the Luftwaffe base at Wunstorf while in Europe earlier this year, so, to be able to photograph a Lufttransportgeschwader 62 aircraft here at home was just awesome!
