Special Livery Spotting at Amsterdam Schiphol EHAM: Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, Vueling Marvel and Disney and More — September October 2022
Amsterdam Schiphol EHAM is one of Europe's premier spotting locations, with a diverse mix of intercontinental widebodies and European narrowbodies passing through daily. A month-long stay in Amsterdam in September and October 2022 yielded limited but productive spotting sessions, with a deliberate focus on special liveries.
The widebody highlights came from the Gulf carriers. Emirates contributed two A380-861s — A6-EEW in the “Destination Dubai” livery and A6-EEX wearing the “Year of the 50th” special scheme celebrating the UAE's 50th anniversary. Qatar Airways delivered equally striking subjects with Boeing 777-300 A7-BEB in the “FIFA World Cup 2022” livery ahead of the Qatar tournament, and Qatar Cargo Boeing 777F A7-BFG in the “Moved by People” scheme.
The narrowbody special liveries were equally varied. Vueling provided two colourful subjects — A320-232 EC-MYC in the “El Verano de Superheroes” Marvel livery and A320-232 EC-MLE in the “Disney Tinkerbell” scheme. Turkish Airlines A330-223 TC-JIZ wore the “Invest in Türkiye” special markings alongside SunExpress Boeing 737-800 TC-SOZ in the “Istanbul city” livery. Air Baltic rounded out the session with A220-300 YL-CSL in the Latvian Flag livery, while LOT's Embraer E195LR SP-LNB carried advertising livery for Grzeski, a Polish manufacturer of chocolate-covered wafers - perhaps the most unusual sponsor to appear on a commercial aircraft at Schiphol that autumn. Icelandair Boeing 757-300 TF-ISX completed the collection, celebrating 100 years of Icelandic sovereignty with its “100 Fullveldi Íslands” special scheme.
