Boeing? What Boeing?
Some days you go to the airport and nothing happens.
Other days you ask yourself, “What the %f@&k* just happened?!”
In this case, the answer was the most interesting aircraft to visit Curacao in 2020.
I was originally hoping to photograph an American Airlines Boeing 737, which was making the company’s first flight to our island since the borders closed.
However, the tip of a white vertical stabilizer caught my eye as I got closer to the airport. “What the heck is that?” I thought to myself. The aircraft came into full view once I had reached my chosen spot: a shiny, all-white Boeing 757, with very few markings!!
N226G is a Boeing 757-23A operated by COMCO (owned by US defence contractor L3) and widely believed to be operated on behalf of the US Department of Defence. What it actually does is a bit of a mystery, as is the reason for its stop here in Curacao.
The tug was hooked up for pushback, so I knew it was leaving soon. I ended up waiting about two hours for the shots below.
And yes, I got my photos of American Airlines!
