Visitor: Luftwaffe Airbus A400M Serial 54+21 LTG 62 Transits Curaçao on Pacific Redeployment

Aviation photography in Curaçao hasn’t been very exciting lately. I’ve only managed to catch a few aircraft I missed while in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Luckily, the tides have turned and a huge surprise came to paradise island: a Luftwaffe A400M on its way home from deployment in the Pacific area!

The German airlifter, 54+21, snuck in unannounced on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, the local spotter community was able to team up to uncover some departure information. I arrived at the airport well in advance and ready to catch some shots at twilight. Cloudy sunrise conditions presented challenges but I made every shot count.

I was unable to visit the Luftwaffe base at Wunstorf while in Europe earlier this year, so, to be able to photograph a Lufttransportgeschwader 62 aircraft here at home was just awesome!
