Runway 29 ops!
It’s not often that Curaçao’s airport uses runway 29. When it does happen, it is often for a brief period before switching back to runway 11 so I don’t normally head out unless it is for special traffic.
This time however, was a bit different. Tropical storm “Melissa” was passing North, resulting in Westerly winds for a sustained period. I intended to be in place early for the arrival of the WC-130Js , and with a backlog of aircraft resulting from the runway closure earlier in the afternoon, there would be lots of action. It was a good chance to capture different scenes and incorporate more the island into the frame. With no special aircraft in the lineup, it was also a good time to get some practice at slow shutter speed panning shots.
By the time the USAF Weatherbirds arrived, operations had switched back to runway 11.
