Somos Boricua!

We are Puerto Rico!

In February of this year, JetBlue Airways announced that it planned to launch a brand-new special livery celebrating the famed US territory. 3 Puerto Rican artists were invited by the airline to submit designs, one of which would adorn an Airbus A320 later in the year. The visions of the 3 artists, Elizabeth Barreto, Juan Gutierrez Rovira and Natalia Nicole, were put to a public vote online, with the aircraft being unveiled in October.

N657JB, an Airbus A320-232 named “Isla del Bluencanto”, is the airline’s second aircraft to feature a livery inspired by the Caribbean island. The winning design, by Juan Gutiérez Rovira, features a Jíbaro (a traditional Puerto Rican farmer) on the tail, with local fruits and other flora adding vibrant colours to the airline’s new blue livery. The words “Somos Boricua” are painted on the belly of the aircraft, along with the territory’s flag.

The stunning airliner finally visited Curaçao for the first time on Friday, November 21st.
