Vulkan “Curl”

A bit of an exotic visitor to the island on January 23rd, a Vulkan Air Antonov AN-26B.

Ukraine’s Vulkan Air made a short stop in Curaçao to deliver a load of cargo. The aircraft, registered UR-CQV, arrived early in the morning from Punta Cana (PUJ/MDPC), Dominican Republic and landing on Curaçao’s runway 11. The crew unloaded the cargo and departed back to MDPC a few hours later.

Curaçao is no stranger to Ukrainian commercial cargo companies, having hosted Antonov Airlines AN-124s and Ukraine Air Alliance AN-12BKs on deliveries or fuel stops over the last few years. This is, however, the first time I see a “Curl” here. Colombia’s Aercaribe Cargo operates a small fleet of 3 AN-26Bs but these are never seen on our island.

I was lucky to photograph another Vulkan AN-26B, UR-CQE, in St-John’s, Newfoundland in 2022.
