Boston surprise
Curacao spotters got an early Christmas gift from Jetblue Airways !
On Friday, December 13th, I received word that I should go photograph the Jetblue flight. Not seeing a special livery in FR24, I was a bit puzzled. Information was nowhere to be found, either on the airline’s website or through any of the aviation news social medial accounts. The aircraft’s history did show that it was in Macon, Georgia 02-12 December indicating it had possibly been re-painted. The Airbus had been subsequently flown to New York (JFK/KJFK) on December 12th and made of return flight to Syracuse, New York (SYR/KSYR) on December 12th-13th. I checked all the JFK social media accounts I could find with no luck.
So I went to the airport without too much to go by. This was the livery’s first international flight, so it was worth a try!
I am still unsure as to the significance of the date painted on the aircraft’s tail, nor the specific significance of the livery itself. At the time of writing this, there was still nothing official on Jetblue’s website or any of the airline news sites.
UPDATE: On December 19th, 2025 JetBlue officially announced this livery on their website. The stunning new colours celebrate the airline’s relationship with the city of Boston, which it has served for over 20 years.
