JetBlue Airbus A320 N599JB “Dominican Republic” Livery First Visit In Curacao
June 16th was an exciting plane spotting day: The first visit to Curaçao by JetBlue’s latest special livery.
N599JB, an Airbus A320-232, arrived from Miami International Airport (MIA/KMIA) for JetBlue flight 1111, in the “Dominican Republic” special livery.
On January 22nd, 2026, JetBlue announced an online competition to select the livery that would be applied to one of its A320s. 3 designs, all by renowned Dominican artists, were put forward.
Artist Willy Gomez’s work was revealed as the winner of the public vote on February 4th, 2026.
Named “Quisqueya la Bluebella” (a play on the patriotic phrase “Quisqueya la Bella”), the freshly repainted N599JB was unveiled in a ceremony at Santo Domingo Las Americas International Airport (SDQ/MDSD) on May 28th, 2026. The livery includes several elements of Dominican culture: dominoes, traditional musical instruments, the national bird Cigüa Palmera, flowers, The Alcázar de Colón, palm trees, ocean waves and contemporary street art.
“The design represents a graphic synthesis of Dominican identity, reflecting elements of its culture, climate, and wildlife; a combination of qualities dancing together, giving life and rhythm to our nation,” said Willy Gómez. “I feel incredibly proud to be able to represent Dominican culture through a project like this, as it serves as a bridge and inspiration between Dominicans and the rest of the world. For me, it represents a childhood dream come true.”
Gomez’s vision and artwork were brought to life at the Dean Baldwin Painting facility located at the Macon Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN/KMCN).
JetBlue is the largest airline serving the Dominican Republic, flying from the United States to Santiago (STI/MDST), Santo Domingo (SDQ/MDSD), Puerto Plata (POP/MDPP) and Punta Cana (PUJ/MDPC).
Nearing 22 years of age, N599JB was built in Toulouse, France and delivered to JetBlue in December 2004. It was previously named “If The Blue Fits”.
