Royal Navy HMS Medway Visit Brings Fleet Air Arm Wildcat ZZ529 and RAF Atlas C1 ZM408 to Curaçao
Written By Patrick Lalande
We had the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy in town this week, with HMS MEDWAY and RFA WAVE KNIGHT on a port visits to the island.
Just like last year, this brought UK aviation assets to Hato international airport. Fleet Air Arm Wildcat ZZ529 was first to arrive, landing Monday morning. Tuesday afternoon, RAF Atlas C1, serial ZM408, came to drop off personnel and cargo. It left us on Thursday to return to the UK.
I am not sure yet if there will be more such flights to the island the near future. So far it is quite tame in comparison to last year, where we saw multiple Atlas and Voyager flights over the course of a few weeks.
