Divi Divi DHC-6 Twin Otter PJ-DVD In New “Fly The Blue Wave” 2026 World Cup Livery
FIFA 2026 World Cup fever continues!
The Curaçao national team had their first match on June 14th, facing off against 4-time world champion Germany. It was never going to be easy and Germany showed their strength early, scoring the first goal within the first 5 minutes of the start. The island team managed to even things up, telling the German players that it was not going to be so easy. Despite Curaçao’s efforts and spirit, the match ended with a decisive 7-1 victory for Germany.
For spotters the hype surrounding the tournament isn’t just about planes of the major airlines like American. Local carrier Divi Divi Air also joined the FIFA action, unveiling a brand new World Cup special livery on DHC-6 PJ-DVD on June 10th. The Canadian-built turboprop displays the slogan “Fly The Blue Wave” on the engine nacelles, as well as images depicting local culture along the fuselage such as the Handelskade (the colourful buildings found in the centre of Willemstad).
Named after a local tree, Divi Divi Air was founded in Curaçao in 2001 and currently operates a fleet of three DeHavilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otters (PJ-DVD, PJ-DVF and PJ-DVH) and two Britten-Norman BN-2 Islanders (PJ-AIR and PJ-SKY). A fourth Twin Otter (PJ-DVE) is not operational and currently sits dismantled.
The airline operates multiple daily flights from Curaçao to Aruba (AUA/TNCA) and Bonaire (BON/TNCB).
Despite the loss, enthusiasm and pride remain sky-high on the island. Everywhere you go, flags are flying, people are wearing blue and residents from many national backgrounds unite in support for the “Blue Wave”. Curaçao is increasing its international profile significantly, with people around the world now discovering that our island exists and has been its own country since 2010.
