Rare Visitor: US Coast Guard HC-27J Spartan Serial 2711 at Curaçao TNCC

It was short, but it was more than exciting !

A United States Coast Guard (USCG) HC-27J Spartan from Clearwater, Florida made a brief stop in Curacao. These aircraft are not common visitors to our island so it was another mad rush to the airport.

The USCG took over 14 Spartans from the United States Air Force (USAF). 13 of the twin-engined airlifters had been previously placed in preservation at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AFB) and a final example was transferred to the USCG immediately upon its formal acceptance by the USAF.

Along with the HC-144 Ocean Sentry, the HC-27J forms the USCG’s medium range surveillance aircraft fleet.
