French Air and Space Force CASA CN-235 Serial 114 Escadron de Transport 68 Short Stop In Curaçao
The French Air and Space Force made a short visit to Curaçao on Sunday, August 16th, 2026.
CASA CN-235 serial 114 arrived at Curaçao International Airport around Noon following a flight from Base Aérienne (BA) 367 in Cayenne, French Guyana. The light transport, assigned to Escadron de Transport (ET) 68 “Antilles-Guyane”, remained parked on the ramp at the Jet Center FBO for about an hour before departing for Martinique. Interestingly, the the aircraft took the long route North around the Maiquetia Flight Information region (FIR) for both flights instead of more direct routes. The flights could be followed on Flightradar24 but the aircraft type was the only available information.
ET 68 is no stranger to Curaçao, having visited the island several times over the years in support of Marine National warships and Falcon 50M operations.
Formed in January 1970 as “Escadron d’Helicoptères Outre-Mer (EHOM) 68” in French Guyana, the unit was tasked with supporting sovereignty missions across the region. After taking on an additional fixed-wing transport role, the French Air Force restructured the unit and redesignated it as ET 68 on July 1st, 1994. Today, it operates a mixed fleet of three CASA CN-235 and three Airbus H225M Carcal.
The French Air and Space Force operates a total of 27 CN-235 aircraft, with 10 of them deployed with overseas units in French Guyana (ET 68), La Réunion (ET 50 “Réunion”), Tahiti (ET 82 “Maine”), New Caledonia (ET 52 “Tontouta”) and Djibouti (ET 88 “Larzac”).
In France, the type is operated by ET 1/62 “Vercors” and ET 3/62 “Ventoux”, both based at BA 105 Évereux.
