American Airlines Airbus A321 N167AN "Flagship Valor" Medal of Honor Special Livery at Curaçao
I was finally able to catch up with American Airlines’ “Flagship Valor” on August 21st, 2026. I had missed its first Curaçao visit earlier this year while I was away in Greece for Iniochos 2026.
On National Medal of Honor Day, and the groundbreaking for the National Medal of Honor museum in Arlington, Texas, “Flagship Valor” made its debut flight transporting recipients of the medal from Dallas-Fort Worth to Washington D.C. on March 25th, 2022.
According to American Airlines, the aircraft depicts “major military conflicts and the six characteristics that embody the Medal of Honor and those who have received it” as well as the Army, Navy and Air Force versions of the medal. Inside the cabin, “customers can scan QR codes for access to information about the Medal of Honor and its extraordinary recipients, serving as a teaching tool to pass on these remarkable stories for generations to come.”
Built at the Airbus factory at Hamburg-Finkenwerder Airport (XFW/EDHI), N167AN was delivered to American Airlines in August 2016. It notably experienced a minor tail-strike incident while landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT/KCLT) on June 9th, 2025 but was repaired and returned to service a few months later.
