NATO MRTT drops in
NATO’s Multinational MRTT Unit (MMU) was in the Caribbean once again on January 12th, sending Airbus A330-243MRTT serial T-061 from Eindhoven airbase (EIN/EHEH) to Curaçao in support of the Dutch military.
On board the aircraft are members of Charlie Company, 17th Armoured Infantry Battalion of the Royal Netherlands Army (Koninklijke Landmacht) who are taking part in this year’s edition of the annual “Caribbean Poacher” exercise.
While the MMU aircraft wear Netherlands Air Force colours and serials, they are the property of the NATO alliance and financed by the participating nations. The fleet is based at Eindhoven, with a forward operating location (FOL) in Cologne, Germany (CGN/EDDK). A second FOL will be established in the near future at Karup Air Base, Denmark (KRP/EKKA).
Update: T-061 departed Curaçao for Eindhoven on January 14th at 842am. Photos of the takeoff added.
