The Tiger Didn’t Fly Alone: Belgian Air Force 31 Squadron 75th Anniversary Photo Flight

Belgian Air Force F-18B MLU serial FB-17 on approach at Kleine-Brogel airbase, Belgium

Belgian Air Force F-16B MLU FB-17, likely acting as the photo ship during this sortie of 11 Vipers.

My trip to Kleine-Brogel on march 12th was a busy one. It seems like the Belgian Air Force’s entire 31 Squadron went up for an air-to-air photo shoot.

The possibility that this was a photo flight came to mind when I noticed the two-seater, FB-17. This was the first flight for the newly painted FA-101, and it was follow by another 9 A-models. The B-model was surely the photo ship, with a photographer in the back seat.

With the F-35 already operating out of Florennes airbase, and the massive amount of infrastructure work being carried out at “KeeBee”, time is quickly running our for Belgian Vipers.
