USAF Boeing C-17A Globemaster III 02-1112 Mississippi ANG Stops In Curaçao For Venezuela Relief Operations
Another C-17A Globemaster III visitor made a short visit to Curaçao on July 18th, 2026.
Boeing C-17A serial 02-1112, assigned to the Mississippi Air National Guard’s 172nd Airlift Wing (AW), flew in from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL), arriving in Curacao just after 1pm. The aircraft made a 2-hour stop at the Cooperative Security Location (CSL) ramp with support provided by the 429th Expeditionary Operations Squadron (EOS). The aircraft departed Curaçao just after 3pm for a short flight to Caracas, Venezuela. With its mission complete in Caracas, 02-1112 ended the day in Ceiba, Puerto Rico where it remained overnight.
02-1112 returned to JB MDL on July 19th.
The 172nd AW is based at Allen C. Thompson Field Air National Guard Base in Jackson, Mississippi (JAN/KJAN) and has been operating the C-17A since 2004. Officially Receiving its first Globemaster III in December 2003, the 172nd AW became the very first Air National Guard unit to fly the C-17A.
Prior to the Globemaster III, the 172nd AW flew several aircraft types such as the C-121 Constellation (1963-1966), C-124C Globemaster II (1966-1972), C-130E (1972-1980), C-130H (1980-1986), C-141B Starlifter (1986-2000) and the C-141C Starlifter (2000-2004).
